Seeing a headache specialist changed my life

I started getting migraines in high school, and I missed school about once a month at that time. Over time my migraine attacks became more often and worse than before. I worked with my family doctor, who really wanted to help me, but she didn’t know that much about migraine. She sent me to a neurologist who told me I just needed to handle my stress better. Needless to say I didn’t find him very helpful. I spent the next 5 years taking Advil or Excedrin nearly everyday. Finally after I got married, my husband told me someone he works with goes to a headache specialist, and I reluctantly scheduled an appointment. From then on I have reduced my migraine days more than I could have imagined. I no longer take Excedrin, I occasionally take Advil, and I take one pill everyday to keep my migraines under control. My mood has gone from what I would call “quite negative,” to “really positive” because of the change in my migraines. I tell everyone I can about my headache doctor, because he changed my life!
